The Werth-While Times
A good few month’s worth of news: November-January 2011
First of all, we would like to wish each and everyone of you a very happy ‘new year.’ We look forward to sharing some happy family news with you from the past few months. I had a little notebook filled with stories I wanted to share with you, and wouldn’t you know it- it somehow disappeared on me!
December seemed to sneak right up on us. We went to a tree farm this year, on perhaps one of the chilliest days of the year. It was a fun experience, and the boys seemed to enjoy themselves, despite the extremely cold weather. Ashton had a fun time helping us decorate the tree and Bryce had a fun time trying to undecorate the tree. Bryce was quite determined to get the ornaments off of the tree and wouldn’t give up until he had the ornament in his hand, no matter what cost!… We quickly realized it was a good idea to decorate the tree from the middle up. We set up a fake Christmas tree for them in their room, which they had fun decorating with random toys- cars, stuffed animals, etc. It was a sight to be seen. Our big tree also had a few choice ornaments added to it as well. My favorite was the clothes hanger. It added a nice touch!
Ashton celebrated his 4th birthday on January 16th. Jed and I made penguin cupcakes for him. He was so excited about them! Thank you to everyone who sent cards / was able to share in his special day. I still can’t believe he’s four years old. I’ve been trying to teach him how to read and write, and he absolutely loves learning. The other day he wanted me to help him write his stuffed seal’s name, Fins. I wrote Fins out on a piece of paper for him. He went into another room and then came back and showed me what he had written: Snif. Hehe. I told him what he had written, and explained how he needs to start at the left, with the “F” sound. He ran off, came back, and proudly showed me his new paper, which read: Fins. I love how excited he gets when we work together on these things. He’s so eager to learn new things! He’s going to be starting soccer in March. I can’t wait! I’m going to be his biggest fan.
Bryce has been keeping very busy as well. Some of his new favorite phrases are: “Eat cheese!” and “I’m stuck” which go together nicely, don’t you think? He woke up one night, looked at Jed and said, “Eat cheese.” I think he even dreams in cheese. He’s crazy about Disney Pixar CARS right now, and loves racing them all around the house. He calls Ashton, “D-D.” Bryce will be starting swimming lessons soon which should be a lot of fun. Both boys love trips to the library. Whenever we go, Bryce is a Wildman- he darts around the bookshelves like a little lightning bolt! He absolutely loves my deodorant. I cant even count the number of times I have busted him with it in his hands. If he’s quick enough to get the cover off, he tries to eat it like a icecream cone. I know what you’re thinking, “ew!” Yep, that’s what I think, too, yet Bryce still seems to think, “icecream cone.” Luckily I’ve found a really good hiding place for it!
We were fortunate enough to take the boys to the Tundra Lodge hotel in Green Bay a few weeks ago. Bryce took one look at the fish aquarium and said, “Eat Fish!” Jed asked him, “What do you see, fillets swimming around in there?” Pop pop would be proud! Ashton overcame his fear of waterslides while we were there, which was exciting! We also stopped by Lambeau Field. The boys each got a pompom from the front desk. Go Packers!
Jed has been busy with work, keeping up with all of the NFL news and making weird noises in his sleep and eating “all ready ate” lunches. I’m sure you’re all wondering, “What is an all ready ate lunch?” Jed had a feeling you might wonder that very thing, so I’m sending the recipe along with this. I made it for lunch one day. Jed happened to work late, so I made him a plate and stuck it in the fridge. When he got home, he ate the left over food mush that was still sitting on the stove- a lovely mix of cream of chicken soup and stuffing. Ew. But he ate it. He ate it all. Its so much better WITH the chicken and vegetables! Hehe. From now on, I think he will look in the fridge first!
I’ve been busy keeping up with the boys and trying to get back into writing to my dear penpals. We are definitely looking forward to spring. I’ll be so happy when I look outside and see the leaves dancing on the trees again. Until then, we will enjoy the beauty in the snowfalls and hope you will as well. We hope you enjoy the little goodies we’re sending along with this.
God’s blessings,
